Ischia island tour

Distance: 30 Km
Duration: 1 ½ h
Max Slope: 12%
Gradient: 70m

The third route boasts an even greater degree of difficulty and it is suitable for the more experienced. The route unwinds for 30 km. From Ischia the traveler reaches Forio, and this 15 km strech is a continuous succession of ascents and descents. The ascent from Forio ends in Serrara Fontana, the highest village on the island of Ischia. The winding road that leads to Serrara is really wonderful, open to the sea, mixed in with countryside and old farmhouses. Once you reach the destination you will enjoy breathtaking views of Sant'Angelo and Maronti, from the magnificent point of Serrara. Attention also deserves the historical part of this very commune characteristic in its contrast between simple houses and the great patrician palace that overlooks the square. From Serrara Fontana one can retrace the same route, or get off in the town of Ischia, on the other side, this as well very rich in views and pretty villages.
